Baden-Powell Parade Ground & Campsites
Officially named in 1936 at the opening of Baden-Powell Camp by Lord Baden-Powell, this parade ground is the hub of the Scout ‘section’ of the Camp. From it, one has access to the six main campsites, the main campfire Circle and Rikki’s Chapel. Each of the six campsites were substantially enlarged and levelled off in February 2020. This allows for greater flexibility to house a full patrol or much larger numbers.
A Springbok activity from six Surat Hindu scouts saw the construction of Loffelstein retaining walls in each campsite in May 2020.
The densely overgrown bush that was strangling the trees in the campsite and surrounding the parade ground was cleared, opening up the campsites and parade ground.
Richard Hooper, as a Rover project, fenced around the parade ground and rebuilt the entrances into each campsite during April and May 2020.
