Environmental Education at B-P Camp

B-P Scout Camp, being situated in the pristine Burman Bush Nature Reserve, lends itself to being a centre for Environmental Education (EE).

The main purpose of Environmental Education (EE) is to promote an appreciation of the outdoors and environmental issues amongst its participants. At the same time, it has the added benefit of enhancing critical thinking and problem solving skills.

To this end the B-P Camp Management Team is making available a number of programmes on an environmental theme. These will take the format of short modules on prescribed topics. Most topics have been based on the school curriculum which makes B-P Camp suitable for school visits. Other modules cover topics that are suited to the Scout and Cub Badge programme. This will assist cubs and scouts in achieving badges. The actual programme offered to a group will be on a ‘mix and match’ basis with modules being selected according to the specific needs of the group.

The developing of modules will continue on an ongoing basis in order to accommodate current trends and the needs of participants.

The list of modules offered will be made available on request.
